Board seat and advisory
Board seat and advisory is a continuing non-executive engagement with an acquired B2B SaaS company, running 12 months or longer. It covers quarterly board attendance and a monthly call with the CEO, and exists to keep a commercial strategy on course after the engagement that produced it has ended. It keeps the judgment that shaped the plan in the room while the plan is executed.
A standing seat rather than a project. Continuity is the deliverable.
What’s involved
- A non-executive board seat with a commercial remit, alongside the financial and legal depth the board already has.
- Quarterly board attendance, with a written commercial read ahead of each meeting rather than a verbal update inside it, in the format the board works in.
- A monthly call with the CEO, on the decisions that will not wait for a board date.
- The same definitions throughout. The metrics agreed after the close, tracked on one dashboard, so the board reads the numbers on the basis diligence used.
- Continuity on the strategy: whether what was agreed is being done, whether it is working, and what should change if it is not.
- Challenge on the commercial numbers, with full knowledge of what was promised in diligence and whether it is happening.
Who this is for
- You have completed a 100-day engagement and want the plan held to account rather than filed.
- You hold for a decade and need commercial oversight that spans more than one CEO’s tenure.
- Your board has financial and legal depth and no operator who has carried a commercial number in software.
- You are a small team owning several companies and cannot be close enough to any one of them.
- The commercial strategy is sound and the risk is quietly drifting off it over 4 quarters.
What it costs
- Fee
- from EUR 7,500 per month
- Duration
- 12 months minimum
Fixed fee and fixed timeline. Fees are never contingent on a transaction closing, because the entire value of this work is that it has no stake in the answer. Before work starts, we agree the concrete scope of the engagement with you: the timeline, the deliverables and their format, and the number of key meetings and interviews.
